Laura Bryna, one of country music's newest darlings, has burst on the scene with voice, force and yes...a keen fashion sense that hasn't been seen on stage in some time.
Nashville has dubbed Laura as "emerging as one of the town's top new talents." And Hollywood has embraced the rising star for her singing, acting and hosting talents.
Urban Darling had the great opportunity to interview Laura for our eZine. Laura has top talent but her fashion savvy was the natural direction we headed with the interview.
Urban Darling: Being a native East Coaster, do you follow traditional fashion rules? For instance no white before Derby Day or Shoes and Bags must always match? Laura Bryna: I'm not really one to follow fashion rules. I wear what I am in the mood for. When it's rainy out I might even be in bright colors!

UD: Your style is fresh, laid-back and flirty. I love it!! How do you describe it? LB: I describe myself as 'Countrypolitan.' Elvis Presely has had an influence on my style. Like Elvis, he dressed in his own way, like the electric blue suit for instance. I think I read somewhere that he was described as Countrypolitan too. My style is edgy with some flair. Really funky chic. I love the throw-back looks of Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette.
UD: The White Dress Shirt, as staple for everyone's closet, do you have one? LB: Of course! I like to dress my white shirts up. For instance I'd wear jeans and sandals with a bright tank underneath. Or dress it up with black slacks, with a black bra, or pink bra or even a red one. And, I am not gonna lie, sometimes a splash of leopard does it!
UD: Who doesn't love a splash of leopard? If that is your thing, work it. How about when you run to the grocery store, what would you be wearing? LB: Oh, a fun sweat suit, but usually I am all decked out from a meeting.
UD: True, sometimes you don't know when you are out of milk and you run in whatever you are wearing! How fun to get noticed all dressed up picking up milk! Alright, dare to dish? Fashion faux pas - what is one yours? LB: I am a shoe size of 4 or 4.5 and AA. I wear really thick socks to 'fill in' my boots. The socks are usually Holiday themed, like Thanksgiving, Christmas or Valentine's Day. At security checkpoints in airports I get teased about whatever socks I am wearing.
UD: That's awesome! You never know what we are really wearing. Thanks for sharing that, makes me feel a lot better about some of my faux pas. So, in another direction, what are your fashion secrets, do you have any that you'd like to share? LB: I am a glitter queen! But also, you know how people tell you to spray perfume and then walk into it? No. I spray it right in my hair. My signature scent has been Bob Mackie for years. People always know when I have been in the room.
UD: Who are your favorite designers? LB: I like how Roberto Cavalli pushes the edge. But famous designers are not what I look for when shopping, I look for interesting pieces, and glitter of course.. Oh, I do like "The Blonds" they are really known for their bustier.
UD: The Blonds, never heard of them, I'll get right on that. Are you an online shopper? LB: I am an impulse buyer - I like the instant gratification. There is no site in particular that I shop on at this point.
UD: Ok, well how would you compare Nashville style to LA style, since you are now spending time in both cities? LB: They are very similar in some senses. You find cowboy boots and hats in both places. Really both cities are about living life to the fullest.
UD: Is there anyone that really knocks your socks off, style wise? LB: I like everyone, from Madonna to Rihanna. I take bits and pieces from each of them and incorporate into my own style.
